SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
As a Lockheed Martin Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to contribute technically and programmatically in the development of our many breakthrough products. Because Systems Engineers have responsibilities across the entire product life cycle, you may contribute to every aspect that impacts how a product is conceived, developed and deployed into the field.
Systems Engineers may work with business development to help with the conceptual design of new product offerings. This may entail developing concept architectures of the system, evaluating if Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products already exist or if new products will have to be developed and conducting cost-benefit analyses of different candidate configurations. During proposal development, you may help refine this concept into a solution that addresses specific customer requests. After contract award, you may use software tools to assist in understanding all customer expectations and establishing a system to assign responsibility for particular team members. During the development phase of the product, you could help resolve and manage risks as they are identified. You may also be involved with ensuring the integrity of program configuration baselines and how these obligations are verified.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be challenged to effectively plan and execute projects to meet and exceed customer expectations. In addition, your background may provide you with options for different career paths that can include program or technical management or specializations in specific disciplines such as systems analysis or architecture.
